Public Exhibition Of Small Town Structure PlansPublic exhibition will be held to allow members of the Latrobe Valley community the chance to consider Amendment C24 to the Latrobe Valley Planning Scheme. By Latrobe City Council - 21st August 2009 - Back to News Amendment C24 proposes the introduction of Small Town Structure Plans for Tyers, Glengarry and Boolarra.
The exhibition will be held from Friday 20 August 2009 to Friday 2 October 2009.
Members of the community are invited to provide submissions of support or objection, outlining any opinions they may have regarding the amendment during the exhibition period.
The amendment proposes to include Structure Plans for the townships of Tyers, Glengarry and Boolarra within the Latrobe Planning Scheme.
Structure Plans aim to build upon the unique identity of each town while enabling land use and development opportunities in appropriate and serviceable locations.
They identify preferred housing densities, land use classifications, buffer zones and environmental constraints.
In addition, they illustrate possible road configuration and the location of retail and community facilities such as shops, schools and public open spaces.
The selection of Boolarra, Glengarry and Tyers for the preparation of Structure Plans was in response to forecasted growth and housing demand within each town and the limited strategic planning direction for the future. The preparation of structure plans for the remaining small townships across Latrobe City will be completed at a later stage.
Public open space, bushland reserves and locations of remnant vegetation were reviewed during the preparation of the Structure Plans. The Structure Plans recommend the introduction of appropriate zone and overlay controls to ensure the recognition and protection of remnant vegetation and habitat values that exist within each township.
Landowners and interested parties are invited to make an appointment to meet with Council Planning Officers to discuss the proposed introduction of the Structure Plans to the Latrobe Planning Scheme at any of the information sessions listed.
Members of the community will have the opportunity to discuss how the proposed Structure Plans will operate and how they can participate in the public exhibition and submission process.
