Latrobe Serves Up The Laughs With A Night Of ComedyFollowing on from the sell out success of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow in May By Latrobe City Council - 30th July 2007 - Back to News Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon will be hosting ‘A Night of Comedy’ on Wednesday 15 August from 7pm.
Latrobe’s performing arts and venues coordinator, Kathleen Roberts said that the show would feature some of Australia’s most talented and up and coming comedians.
"Justin Hamilton, Terri Psiakis, Michael Chamberlin and Kent Valentine will bring with them their individual wit, talent and delivery when they perform their routines. With their fantastic pedigrees and original styles, these four talents of the comedy scene will ensure that ‘A Night of Comedy’ will be an evening of laughs to lift the spirits in the depths of winter," Ms Roberts said.
Justin Hamilton’s solo show ‘Smash’ was a huge hit through 2006 both at the Adelaide Fringe and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and he secured the support act slot for Wil Anderson’s ‘Wil Communication National Tour’. Justin has been described as a ‘delicate lout’ with a fluent and easy-going style.
Terri Psiakis started her stand up career with a performance bagging tuck shop ladies at her school concert when she was 16. She hasn’t looked back since, with television appearances on Rove Live, The Glass House and Spicks and Specks, as well as radio slots. Her debut stand up show received rave reviews as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Terri’s is described as candid, relaxed and engaging with a show that employs lucid wit and lopsided wisdom.
Michael Chamberlin is a talented and refreshingly unpredictable comedian who has appeared in television’s skitHOUSE, Rove Live, Spicks and Specks and Stand Up. Michael wrote and performed in ‘Boiling Point’ with fellow comedian Charlie Pickering which took out the comedian’s choice ‘Piece of Wood Award’ at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2002 and has since made many appearances at this festival and the Adelaide Fringe with his various shows.
Kent Valentine is a ‘comedy locomotive’ with a rapid fire, intense and brutal delivery. His debut solo show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival ‘Be My (Kent) Valentine’ was a sell out hit and one of The Age’s top ten picks for the festival. His show ‘Splitting the Bill’ with Sam Bowring won a nomination for ‘Best Emerging Comedy’ at the Adelaide Fringe. Kent performs regularly as an MC at venues in Melbourne, Brisbane and regional NSW as well as running a popular open mic comedy venue in Sydney.
‘A Night of Comedy’ is on at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon on Wednesday 15 August from 7pm. Tickets are available from the Box Office on 5176 3559.
