Council Community Grants Program UnderwayBass Coast Shire Council has allocated $200,000 to be distributed among eligible community groups. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 24th August 2005 - Back to News Council’s Arts and Leisure Coordinator, Jenny Churchill, said that the funds are available as part of Council’s annual Community Grants Program.
"The Program supports local community organisations with the valuable work they do in our community.
"Each year we get numerous applications from many worthy community groups to assist them in improving their facilities and with the community activities and special events which they are involved in," Ms Churchill said.
Applications need to be for shire-based activities that enhance the social, cultural, environmental or economic development of the community. The grant money is allocated to provide:
- $50,000 for General Community Grants to assist with equipment, activities and promotion.
- $50,000 for Special Events to support locally run community events.
- $100,000 for Minor Capital Works Grants to fund small-scale facility development programs on council or publicly owned land.
Ms Churchill said that priority would be given to community groups that can demonstrate:
· A proven ability to develop and deliver innovative community programs;
- Enhancements to local or specific communities within Bass Coast;
- A commitment to maximise participation from the local community; and
- That the activity/project will make a beneficial contribution to the Bass Coast community.
Applications must be made on the prescribed forms, which are available along with further information from Council’s offices or on Council’s website www.basscoast.vic.gov.au. Applications close on 30 September with the successful recipients being announced in November.
