Ingram seeks meeting for local paediatricians

The Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, has called on Health Minister, Bronwyn Pike, to meet with two paediatricians who gave their notice to Central Gippsland Health Service (CGHS) last week.

In Parliament this week, Mr Ingram paid tribute to the work of Doctors Peter Goss and Jo McCubbin and stated that it was important that the paediatricians were retained in Gippsland.

"These paediatricians give excellent service right across Gippsland, particularly in my electorate of Gippsland East," Mr Ingram told Parliament.

Mr Ingram quoted a letter from the "Save the Sale Hospital" group, that stated these resignations are the result of sustained issues within the administration of CGHS and not a result of any desire by the paediatricians to leave the area.

The letter also stated that the doctors have had to endure the most terrible conditions imposed upon them by the administration of CGHS and it has resulted in these unwanted and unnecessary resignations.

Mr Ingram said that the meeting request would be pursued with the Health Minister’s office.
