Bass Coast Shire Council staff and Inverloch Community Planning group members with their presentation awards for Tidy Town 2011

A representative of Keep Australia Beautiful presented certificates to the Inverloch Community Planning Group and Bass Coast Shire Council at the Inverloch Community Hub last week.

Community Planning Facilitator, Chabrelle Chisholm said the Inverloch Community Planning Group with the assistance of Council entered the Tidy Town 2011 Awards.

"Both Council and the Community Planning Group were presented with certificates for being finalists in four categories," said Ms Chisholm.

"The four categories are Cultural Heritage - Celebrating Inverloch’s Cultural Heritage, Towards Zero Waste - Eco Friendly Town, Community Leadership – Inverloch Community Planning Group, Community Government Partnerships – Community Planning Partnerships.

Michelle Harris from the Inverloch Community Planning Group said it was great to receive acknowledgement for the efforts made by the various community organisations.

"Members of all groups played an important role in explaining their submission to officials on the judging day of the Tidy Town Award," said Ms Harris.

"We are all very excited to find out the outcome on Saturday, 22 October at the Tidy Town Awards Presentation in Rutherglen.

"There have been great partnerships with a number of Community Groups and this has resulted in being finalists in staggering number categories.

"All of these are essential in getting Inverloch nominated for the Tidy Town Award" continued Ms Harris. |

Ms Chisholm said the certificate presentation was a great opportunity to reflect and acknowledge the dedication of the Inverloch Community.

"Regardless of the outcome the strong partnerships that have been developed will continue to benefit the community now and into the future," said Ms Chisholm.

The winner and the winners of the sub categories of the Tidy Town Award 2011 will be announced on 22 October at and official event in Rutherglen.
