Newborough sports score new hub Newly opened sports hub to benefit the community and their well being. By news@gippsland - 28th April 2021 - Back to News Moe and District Netball Association, Newborough Tennis Club and Adrenalin Paintball Club can look forward to a real home ground advantage with the completion of the 10 new lit multi-sport courts and pavilion at Monash Reserve in Newborough.
New sporting hubs to provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation
Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing today officially opened the new multi-sport hub, made possible by a $3 million investment from the Andrews government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund, as well as contributions from the Federal Government and the Latrobe City Council. With more than 800 members from the junior to senior competition, netball is as popular as ever at the Moe and District Netball Association.
Venue for competitions
The 10 new competition courts come complete with LED lighting and provide the perfect venue for teams to practice and compete day and night, as well as a great base for association development and pathway programs.
The new pavilion features female friendly player and umpire change rooms as well as accessible facilities bringing together sports including netball, paintball and tennis under the one roof. The Victorian Government has invested more than $1.05 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.
Beneficial to Victorian well being
From playspace upgrades to new sporting hubs, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation. They are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and fast-tracking community recovery by improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities. Ms Shing also acknowledged the $110,000 contribution from the Latrobe City Council and $800,000 contribution from the Federal Government.
State-of-the-art facilities for the community
Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing said, "After so many years of work with the clubs and members to fund and build this project, it is an absolute joy to celebrate its completion – at last residents, clubs, players, volunteers, umpires and spectators have the facilities they deserve."
"Local clubs already have huge local memberships and now they can continue to expand, with a pavilion, courts, and facilities that are accessible, bright and state-of-the-art. The addition of new court space and lighting will also enable more players of all ages and abilities to get active and involved."
"We are already seeing enormous benefits for the community in better sporting and community facilities, and the new Monash Reserve facilities will only continue to build participation and pride of place."
