Stars Aligned For Latrobe in Country Cricket Coup

Big Bash League charging into the Latrobe Valley.

All the action of cricket’s Big Bash League is charging into the Latrobe Valley thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.

The Melbourne Stars will play against the Adelaide Strikers for Big Bash competition points at Moe’s Ted Summerton Reserve tomorrow afternoon in a major coup for the region.

The match will be televised live across Australia and around the world, putting the Valley in the national spotlight and providing a major boost to the local economy.

Adopting Gippsland as a second home, the Stars have quickly earnt fans across the region after a ‘Valley Smash’ practice match in December 2017.

The Stars are also involved in an annual calendar of community events to engage children, clubs and curators across Baw Baw, Wellington and Latrobe Shires.

The Labor Government announced the landmark Big Bash fixture – a first for regional Victoria – as part of the $85 million Latrobe Valley Sports and Community Initiative and three year-partnership with the Melbourne Stars.

Ted Summerton Reserve will be the home of regional cricket for years to come, with construction soon to start on a cricketing centre of excellence funded by the Labor Government through the Sports and Community Initiative and Sport and Recreation Victoria.
