Council appoints new Director of Corporate ServicesWellington Shire Council has just appointed Jim Wilson as its new Director of Corporate Services. By Wellington Shire Council - 16th December 2003 - Back to News Jim is a very experienced and versatile general manager who has been with the Council for nine years. For the last two he has been Manager of Organisation Development – introducing a new focus on risk management, ensuring the Council’s services provide best value, guiding the governance of the organisation and managing the Council’s elections.
Wellington posts prior to that included Human Resources Manager and Administration Manager, while from 1990 to 1994 he was the Shire of Rosedale’s Manager of Human Resources and Administration.
Jim beat off stiff competition from a strong field of outside candidates for the Director post, which he has already looked after in an acting capacity on several occasions since joining Wellington.
His responsibilities as Director of Corporate Services will include driving forward the philosophies of Best Value and Continuous Improvement in the areas of customer service, organisation development, information services and finance.
He takes up the new post in mid-January 2004, replacing Brendan O’Loughlin.
Jim’s qualifications include a Diploma in Human Resources, and he is a member of the Australian Institute of Human resources and the Australian Institute of Management.
