Latrobe Valley tenpin Bowlers win Gold / Silver and BronzeLatrobe Valley tenpin Bowlers win Gold / Silver and Bronze at the recently held Victorian Tenpin Bowling Championships conducted at Werribee Bowl. By Latrobe Tenpin Bowlers - 23rd May 2003 - Back to News NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH Latrobe Valley tenpin Bowlers win Gold / Silver and Bronze at the recently held Victorian Tenpin Bowling Championships conducted at Werribee Bowl.
Over the last couple of weekends several hundred Victorian tenpin bowlers of all ages competed in Victoria's major championships.Latrobe Valley were well represented with several Juniors and Adults flying the flag for Morwell tenpins. Overall MORWELL TENPIN bowlers collected 2 Gold / 3 Silver and 2 bronze Medals. A very reasonable haul considering the competion and travel that they had to do over the 3 weekends to Melbourne.
Our main bowlers were our current state representatives who achieved the best results of all our bowler competing. Sarah-Jayne Arnold just out of junior ranks and winning a Gold medal in her first Victorian Adult championships. Sarah teamed with ex-South Australian Lisa Lumsden to win the Womens Doubles. They were followed by Tracy Broadbent who won a silver and bronze in both the doubles and team events. Tracy will be travelling interstate later this year to bring back the Walter De Veer shield that Victoria last won two years ago , in which she was a winning member.
Both our State junior reps did well,Katie Arnold and Debra Bosma in bringing back a silver and bronze medal and now are looking toward the National titles which will be held in Victoria this year at Forest Hills shopping complex in June.
In the men's open division current Victorian coach and Manager at Morwell Tenpins Joe Tomasinski managed to secure a silver medal in the open teams and will be looking to a strong showing in Townsville with the state team. Joe teams up with current World Cup record holder Paul Trotter in trying to bring back the shield for Victoria.
The other gold medal winner was last years state representative Sue Jones who (by her own words) has had a miserable year. Several injuries have plagued Sue this year which resulted in her missing state team selection for the first time in 5 years. However revenge is sweet as Sue completly dominated the Masters event resulting in a very satisfying win and thereby giving Sue a chance to represent Victoria in the National Championships in Townsville later this year and giving her a chance to win and bring back the national Master title for her and Victoria.
We wish Sue and all our other state representative the best of bowling and in their quest to bring back as many titles as they can for Victoria / Latrobe Valley and of course themselves.
