Resumed work on headquarters building forges aheadWork on Latrobe City’s Corporate Headquarters project recommenced on 12 January following a break over Christmas. By Latrobe City Council - 21st January 2004 - Back to News Manager Asset and Infrastructure Strategy, Paul Henderson, said work was progressing quickly, and the structural steelwork virtually completed.
"Currently the final preparation work for the completion of the first floor slab is being undertaken with the remaining precast concrete floor panels being lifted into place and steel reinforcement laid prior to the pouring of concrete," Mr Henderson said.
"Precast concrete wall panels continue to be erected along the northern façade (railway side) and air conditioning ductwork has started to be installed on-site.
"Other work to start since the Christmas break includes the installation of glass panes into the window frames on the southern façade (Commercial Road) and the commencement of roof cladding works.
"Over the next couple of months, as the external walls and roof are completed, the building will take on a much more ‘finished’ look from streetscape."
Councillor Middlemiss said the project was scheduled to be completed early in 2005.
"By March 2004 we expect the internal fit-out to be well underway. This should be completed by the October-November period 2004, and following practical completion and the removal of the builder’s site sheds, construction of the car park will be undertaken," Cr Middlemiss said.
"We expect to be delivering services from the new corporate headquarters in March 2005," Cr Middlemiss added.
