Bairnsdale Outdoor Pool maintenance issues in shell and plumbing problems moves opening for summer to 26 December 2023
East Gippsland Shire Council aims for a Dec 26 pool opening, addressing maintenance issues. Updates will be provided, though certainty isn't assured. Bairnsdale indoor pool is open for alternative swimming options.
East Gippsland Shire Council is working towards a Tuesday, December 26 opening date; however, routine maintenance has identified some issues that council is working to address. Contractors identified issues with the pool's shell and plumbing system. Mechanical plumbers, divers and pool specialists have been brought in to investigate these issues further and work to rectify the issues before December 26.

Pool opening updates
Chief Executive Officer Anthony Basford said pool maintenance staff continue to prepare and de-winter the pool for its 2023-24 season. "It is council's goal to have the pool open by Tuesday, December 26; however, we cannot guarantee at this time that will be because. We will keep the community updated as the situation evolves," Mr Basford said. Council will continue to share updates as it monitors the situation.
The Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre(BARC) indoor pool remains open for those wishing to swim in the interim, with lap swimming and leisure swimming options available, along with the warm water pool and water play options.
