By Portal Admin - 23rd August 2016 - Back to News The Latrobe City Trust is inviting applications for funding from individuals and organisations providing support services to individuals and families affected by problem gambling.
Applications for the 2016-17 Annual Community Gaming Support Fund Grant Round close on 31 August.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said that the program aimed to support community members struggling with the impacts of gambling.
"Applications are open to programs that demonstrate a benefit to the community, perhaps as a support or diversionary service, counselling or other initiatives that make a difference in the lives of affected community members. This year, we are inviting applications from individuals as well as from organisations.
"As long as the applicant is based in Latrobe City and they fit the criteria in the guidelines, we will consider the application," Cr Rossiter.
"We are aware of the detrimental effects that gambling can have on families and relationships, mental and emotional wellbeing and financial stability. Being able to provide relief through programs supported by this fund is one way that Latrobe City Council is supporting the health and wellbeing of the community," Cr Rossiter concluded.
