The summit will feature a list of high profile speakers led by the Deputy Premier of Victoria, the Hon Peter Ryan MP. Projects to be highlighted include Advance TAFE development, the Stockman Copper Mine Project, the Sale RAAF Base redevelopment, GippsAero expansion, ExxonMobil Longford Gas Conditioning Plant Project and the CarbonNet project.

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Ed Vermeulen said that the event would be hosted by Latrobe City Council, with financial support from both the Victorian and Australian governments and all Gippsland councils.

"The summit is an initiative that enables local businesses and the wider community to capitalise on potential opportunities created through upcoming major projects in Gippsland.

"The idea is to put major project proponents side by side with business and government leaders who can assist in successfully delivering the projects," Cr Vermeulen said.

"We believe local industry will benefit from the major investments being made in this region, and this summit acts as a catalyst to get partnerships going, business people and government representatives to network," Cr Vermeulen said.

"With around $1 billion of new investment being proposed for the Gippsland region, some of which is already underway, we believe everyone should understand what all this means and how they can take advantage of it. A dedicated summit has proven to be the answer to effectively spell out the details to maximise opportunities for local industry in terms of economic gains.

"With high calibre speakers detailing high profile investments planned for Gippsland, this summit will undoubtedly reinforce our region’s place on Australia’s investment map," Cr Vermeulen concluded.

The major sponsors of the event are the six Gippsland Councils, the Industry Capability Network, Regional Development Victoria, AusIndustry, Regional Development Australia Gippsland and the Victorian Employers’ Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
