Wellington seeks community feedback

Wellington Shire Council has just commenced its annual Community Satisfaction Survey of local residents and ratepayers to gain comprehensive and representative public feedback on how well it is performing.

By Wellington Shire Council - 3rd February 2004 - Back to News

Questionnaires are being distributed to a random sample of some 1,500 households across the Shire. In addition residents can obtain a copy from any of the council’s customer service centres, or complete the questionnaire on the council’s web site www.wellington.vic.gov.au

The closing date for responses is Tuesday 24 February.

The council is keen to receive comprehensive feedback and to build on the significant achievements it is recording on behalf of the local community. These include the newly opened $5.9 million Esso BHP Billiton Wellington Entertainment Centre, the multi-million-dollar Port of Sale redevelopment now underway, the undergrounding of powerlines in Yarram, the opening of $1.5 million of new bridges over the past year at Merriman’s Creek, Cowwarr and Tinamba, and Heyfield’s Wetlands Centre.

The survey adopts the same strict procedures followed by the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) in its own annual state-wide performance surveys. It includes many of the same question areas, together with additional ones of specific relevance to Wellington. The DOI will also be informed of the findings.

Wellington’s Chief Executive Officer Lyndon Webb Said: "This is an important opportunity for the community of Wellington to have their say on our performance as a council, and should give us invaluable feedback on how well the Shire is meeting the needs of the community and where it can improve. This helps us decide on service priorities to be addressed over the following months and years.

"At the end of the day we’re here to help and to ensure that we provide a high standard of customer service.

"The questionnaire covers everything from the public’s involvement in council decision-making through to customer service, infrastructure like roads and buildings, parks, leisure services, and the importance given to various services offered by Wellington."

Meanwhile a detailed copy of the 2003 community survey results can be obtained from any of the council’s customer service centres and libraries. They can also be found on the council’s web site www.wellington.vic.gov.au
