L2P mentors change lives
Ms Bath said, "Rebecca's enthusiastic and caring commitment to young drivers and her volunteer instructors is helping disadvantaged young people achieve their aim of learning to drive. "Obtaining your probationary drivers licence was a rite of passage for many young people."
"Learning to safely drive a car is a critical life skill, but for some in our community it can be challenging without a driver mentor. The L2P program matches young people without access to a supervising driver or a vehicle with a fully qualified volunteer mentor to help them obtain their licence," she said.
Drive for L2P
Ms Bath said Berry Street's Latrobe community L2P program is always looking for new driving mentors to join the program and assist young people gain experience behind the wheel. "Volunteering with L2P comes with comprehensive training and access to a vehicle - all that's needed is a full licence, a good driving history and 1-2 spare hours a week."
"Road safety and learning to drive is such an important skill and I encourage everyone who meets the criteria to contemplate this rewarding community service. Everyone who meets Rebecca is buoyed by her professionalism and positive nature, and I join others in wishing her congratulations," Ms Bath said.
