Residents and community groups in South Gippsland will have greater access to the internet

Residents and community groups in South Gippsland will have greater access to the internet, after the My Connected Community (MC2) Program launch in Leongatha last week.

MC2 allows its users to create their own online community.

It provides training and online resources to enable community groups to establish a website, publish newsletters, network with its members, as well as extending membership and communication with similar groups.

The program offers groups a variety of free easy to use web-based services enabling people in remote and regional areas to communicate ideas across communities. Already some small groups have been established online, including community groups and volunteer groups.

The program is an initiative of the Gippsland Regional Council of Adult, Community & Further Education and the State Government as part of a commitment to improved internet access and ensuring that every Victorian can enjoy the benefits of new communications technology.
