Steeline Gippsland Expansion Funding Welcome News For The Valley

Local business Steeline Gippsland has received a funding injection from the Victorian Government Latrobe Valley Industry and Infrastructure Fund to expand its manufacturing capability.

By Latrobe City - 18th June 2013 - Back to News

Latrobe City Council’s deputy mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson, said that the announcement was welcome news for the region.

"Steeline Gippsland will increase its manufacturing capability by acquiring additional manufacturing equipment to expand the range of roofing, wall cladding, guttering and flashing profiles manufactured from its Traralgon facility.

"The project will see $4.4 million invested and is expected to create ten new full time jobs.

"This is great news for our region, for manufacturing and for the workforce of the Latrobe Valley. The Victorian Government’s funding for this important project may well encourage and motivate other local businesses to investigate accessing this fund," Cr Gibson said.

The $15 million Latrobe Valley Industry and Infrastructure Fund (LVIIF) aims to support businesses to diversify and grow, including small businesses through the provision of smaller grants.

Cr Gibson added that as the Victorian Government has demonstrated its commitment to the Latrobe Valley through this fund it was imperative that the Australian Government did the same.

"I will be raising the subject of matching this commitment with both the Australian Government and the Opposition at a range of meetings I will be attending in Canberra next week," Cr Gibson concluded.
