People with disability at Wide Angle Film Festival
The Wide Angle Film Festival is for everyone. Opportunities to see films featuring people with a disability are rare and the Festival’s award winning short films are entertaining and compelling. Assumptions, attitudes, behaviours and stereotypes are challenged when people with a disability demonstrate their capacity through filmmaking and acting.
The program features films made by people with a disability that reflect their experience of living with a disability. Bass Coast Shire CEO Ali Wastie said that Social Inclusion Week and International Day of People with Disability encourage communities to reconnect, be inclusive of all and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with a disability.
Free access to fantastic short films
Ms Wastie said, "We are incredibly proud to be providing free access to some fantastic short films that demonstrate what people living with a disability can achieve when given the opportunity to showcase their talents." This year, the Wide Angle Film Festival will also be available to watch online, featuring an additional 15-minute program, suitable for children six to 12 years.
Opt to watch at home
The event is being held at the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre, a fully accessible venue, on Tuesday, 1 December from 10.00am. As seating is limited, bookings are required via TryBooking.
If you would prefer to watch films in the comfort of your own home, please register for a free short film, upon request.
