efficiency drive across the region.

The water corporation has more than 1,000 highly efficient, three-star rated showerheads to exchange for any less efficient models currently in use. While old-style showerheads can use up to 20 litres of water a minute, the version available from East Gippsland Water reduces this to just nine litres. This will help customers cut household energy bills as well as greenhouse gas emissions.

The showerheads are being offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis to those who have not participated in the exchange scheme already and there is a limit of one per household. To qualify, customers must be connected to a reticulated water supply and will need to bring a recent East Gippsland Water bill as evidence, along with their old showerhead to exchange. The new showerheads are not compatible with gravity-fed hot water systems.

The East Gippsland Home Show & Trade Fair is being held at the Bairnsdale Aquatic & recreation Centre (BARC) in McKean Street Bairnsdale on Saturday 2 October, 9am-5pm and Sunday 3 October, 10am-3.30pm.

Said East Gippsland Water’s Acting Managing Director, Brett Millington: "Water efficiency is now a part of everyday life. We appreciate the efforts being made by customers to use water wisely and the aim of this latest exchange is to further assist with their efforts."

The Corporation’s stand will include a variety of information on how to use water efficiently around the home and garden, as well as details of the Victorian Government’s Water Smart Gardens & Homes Rebate Scheme. In addition there will be the opportunity to find out more about what the Corporation is doing to ensure the long term security of drinking water supplies across the region.
