Funding boost for community newsletters

Eight local community newsletters are set to benefit from a share of over $4,000 in Wellington Shire Council grants to support the invaluable information service they provide to residents.

By Wellington Shire Council - 2nd February 2004 - Back to News

The not-for-profit newsletters to receive Community Program Grants are: Stratford Town Crier; Redgum Review; Heyfield News; Loch Sport Link; Dargo Bush Bulletin; Letts Beach News; Rosedale Community Newsletter; and the Gormandale Community Newsletter.

Wellington’s Mayor John Jago will present the recipients with their funding cheques during a special event being held at the Council’s headquarters on 11 February.

Said Mayor John Jago: "We greatly appreciate the contribution played by these newsletters in informing and gauging the opinions of their local communities on issues, many of which may be council related. They are a very useful forum to bring communities closer together, providing an invaluable source of information to towns which may not be comprehensively covered by other forms of media."
