That the State Government has committed $300,000 to fund the essential second stage of the clubrooms.

The funding will be added to contributions from the club, community and the EGSC to construct the multipurpose facility, which will cost $410,000.

Craig Ingram congratulated the club’s committee members for their efforts in planning the second stage and for their patience during the funding process.

"It is easy to underestimate the economic value and the social importance of having a surf life saving club and patrolled beach in a town like Lakes Entrance," Mr Ingram said.

"This club is incredibly important for the safety of swimmers and tourists who use the beach at Lakes Entrance and for the community, providing an opportunity for youth in the area to participate, learn new skills and rescue and resuscitation techniques as well as serving the community -- all this in a healthy and active environment.

"Because of the work and dedication of club members, volunteers and the committee, the clubs activities have rightfully recognised Lakes Entrance as the Australian surf life saving club of the year. They also have been chosen to host important national and state events and all these events are a great opportunity to showcase our region.

"The improvements planned at the club will provide the facilities needed for the future and allow the club to better manage its operations at the beach," Mr Ingram concluded.
