Parking Regulations To Be Strongly Enforced

East Gippsland Shire Council has advised that Community Laws Officers will be concentrating on parking enforcement throughout the weeks leading to Christmas.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 6th December 2004 - Back to News

Manager, Community Laws and Emergency Management Heather Jones said that in order to provide a fair parking opportunity to all shoppers, they will be patrolling areas and issuing infringement notices.

"We advise our residents to take the time to read signs and not overstay the stated period," Ms Jones said.

"People parking illegally in Bus Zones, Disabled Parking Bays, and Loading Zones are of real concern and will attract severe penalties."

Ms Jones said that parents are also reminded that when picking children up from school they must ensure that they are legally stopped, even if only briefly.

"Accidents around school crossings have occurred in the past and our officers will be strictly enforcing signs and will fine people who double-park."
