Special Council Meeting for Traralgon Indoor Aquatic Facility Feasibility StudyCommunity members who made submissions to the Traralgon Indoor Aquatic Facility feasibility study will be able to address Council at a special meeting on Monday 11 April 2011. By Latrobe City - 5th April 2011 - Back to News Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said that the feasibility study was released for community comment in 2010 and attracted a great deal of interest.
"Whilst no decision will be made by Council on the night, we want to acknowledge the large volume of submissions and hear from those people who did give us their feedback.
"Council also recently received a number of submissions from people in response to the draft Traralgon Activity Centre Plan (TACP). Whilst these submissions will be considered by Council separately, through the TACP process, it is clear that a number of submissions focussed on the future of the current outdoor pool site.
"As such, we want to ensure that these views are heard and taken into consideration in respect to the potential site for the proposed indoor aquatic facility in Traralgon," Cr White explained.
Latrobe City Ward Councillor Rohan Fitzgerald encouraged people who made submissions to attend the special meeting.
"All persons who made submissions either to the aquatic centre feasibility study or to the TACP, in relation to the future of Hubert Osborne Park, have been written to and invited to attend the special meeting.
"Allowing community members to attend the meeting and voice their submissions will help inform Council on the subject. Once submissions have been heard, officers will prepare a report for Council consideration at a later date," Cr Fitzgerald concluded.
The Special Council Meeting will be held in the Nambur Wariga room at the corporate headquarters in Morwell on Monday 11 April at 7pm.
Community members who wish to attend the meeting and address Council should register their interest by Friday 8 April, with Meagan Bennetts, council operations administration officer, on 5128 5717 or by email Meagan.Bennetts@latrobe.vic.gov.au. As this meeting is likely to generate a lot of interest, it is advisable to register your attendance early.
The meeting will also be open to those who wish to observe the proceedings but not address Council.
