$5,000 For Cowwarr Cfa Shed Upgrades Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe has provided the Cowwarr CFA with $5,000 which delivers on an election commitment to assist with an upgrade to the Cowwarr CFA shed. By Russell Northe - 10th August 2011 - Back to News The funding, which was pledged during the 2010 State Election campaign, will be used to complete works on a meeting room, install a kitchenette and hot water service, all of which will enhance the current amenity of the Cowwarr CFA shed. Mr Northe said Cowwarr was a terrific small community with great character and that many of the town’s facilities deserve ongoing maintenance and upgrades to retain the town’s vibrancy and services. "The Cowwarr CFA has long served its community with distinction and I am pleased to be able to handover $5,000 that will assist with a fit out of the Cowwarr CFA shed.
"I remember vividly in December 2006 the fires that impacted upon the Toongabbie and Cowwarr district and the wonderful efforts of our local CFA volunteers at that time. "Our CFA volunteers do a marvellous job in protecting assets and lives and it is imperative they have adequate facilities and equipment to provide such protection. "It is extremely difficult for our local CFA volunteers to raise much needed funds and I know the Cowwarr CFA will put this contribution of $5,000 to very good use.
"The retention and recruitment of CFA volunteers is essential in small communities and it is and it is therefore imperative that facilities and assets are improved to attract volunteers.
"Cowwarr is a fantastic part of our region, and I have been fortunate enough to visit the town on a number of occasions over these past four years.
"I am extremely glad to be able to provide this funding to this great community, and I look forward to seeing to seeing the final product. "Our small towns are such an important part of our community, and it’s vitally important that they have full support to be able to continue to enhance and build into the future.
"In closing I congratulate the Cowwarr CFA for its continued service to the Gippsland region on behalf of all our community."
