Delivering for Gippsland
Chair Cr Nathan Hersey said One Gippsland looked forward to continuing to work with returning Ministers and Assistant Ministers to deliver for Gippsland. "Gippslanders will continue to expect more from our federal government and its representatives as our region grows and changes. Strong representation at a federal level is welcomed to ensure our region receives its share of investment and local improvements for our future," Cr Hersey said.
"Gippsland contributes strongly, particularly in the agricultural, food production and energy sectors, and is well placed to help the government deliver on its objectives, but needs and deserves support to do so," Cr Hersey said.
Powering Gippsland's future
Cr Hersey added, "Gippsland is an energy powerhouse with abundant natural resources able to power the nation for years to come. Our region is now in a period of great change as it negotiates the transition towards renewable and new energy sources. We need investment in education, roads, ports, telecommunications and tourism to ensure Gippsland remains an attractive place to live, work and enjoy."
"We look forward to continuing to work with our partners in Canberra to ensure the transition is smooth and brings lasting benefits for our communities and new opportunities for Gippslanders," Cr Hersey said.
