Ingram seeks meeting on day care centre cuts

Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, will meet with Bairnsdale Regional Health Service following concerns that it will cut day care centres in several small towns.

"It appears that the Board is aiming to withdraw services from Buchan, Bruthen and Lindenow," Mr Ingram said.

"Clients in these towns will be encouraged to attend Bairnsdale, Metung or Paynesville, which is most unlikely to meet their needs.

"I have spoken to many concerned residents regarding the proposed cuts and will be meeting with Bairnsdale Regional Health Service, with a view to resolving the issue.

"BRHS appears to be consolidating its services, but the proposal will not adequately service the needs of residents living in Buchan, Bruthen and Lindenow.

"I will make sure the objections of local residents are heard by the Board at the meeting," Mr Ingram concluded.
