Be Brave And Shave Be Brave And Shave Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe is encouraging Latrobe Valley residents to "be brave and shave" to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. By Russell Northe - 4th March 2011 - Back to News Education Centre Gippsland (ECG) will be running a Worlds Greatest Shave event for the full week, from 7-11 March from 9:30am – 3:00pm. Monday 7 March will kick off with Star FM broadcasting live from the salon (32 Church Street Traralgon) from 10:00am – 12:00pm.
Anyone wishing to have their head shaved and/or coloured do not need an appointment, but can simply show up anytime to have their locks dramatically altered and do their bit for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Mr Northe said the fundraising event, which is one of Australia’s biggest, is a fantastic way to raise money for those diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma.
"Since 1998, World’s Greatest Shave has raised in excess of $106 million and this money goes towards funding services to support patients and families living with blood cancers, and also to find better treatments and cures.
"Events such as the one ECG are running is a great way for the community to get involved and do their part to show their support of their friends, families diagnosed with cancer.
"I highly encourage everyone to be brave and shave, or colour your hair if the thought of losing your locks is too daunting.
"Remember, any funds you raise will be going to a good cause, so make sure you have fun and raise as much money as possible for the important work undertaken by the Leukaemia Foundation." ECG will be running the Worlds Greatest Shave event for the full week, from 7-11 March from 9:30am – 3:00pm, and donations can be made at Norris, Seymour Street Traralgon, or at ECG.
