Boost For Local Sports Clubs in Gippsland

The Sporting Club Grants Program is helping more people of all ages and abilities in Gippsland to get involved in grassroots sports and get active.

Grassroots sports clubs in Gippsland are getting the equipment, skills and expertise they need to grow and be more competitive.

Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing today announced would share in more than $750,000 from the latest round of the Andrews Labor Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program.

The Sporting Club Grants Program is helping more people of all ages and abilities in Gippsland to get involved in grassroots sports and get active.

There are grants for new modern uniforms and equipment, along with grants providing training programs for coaches, officials and volunteers.

In Bairnsdale , the Bairnsdale Football Netball Club Inc will use the funding to The Club will define and clarify its vision, mission and set of values that will guide current and future decisions and actions.

This clarity of purpose will help increase participation and enjoyment by further improving Club culture. This, in turn, will assist in attracting & retaining players, families, members & sponsors.

Meanwhile, at Seaspray, the Seaspray Surf Life Saving Club Inc will be now able to engage a consultant to assist the Club with the development of the Seaspray Surf Lifesaving Club Five-year Strategic Plan.

This will ensure the Club's future sustainability through increased membership, continuation and expansion of Surf Sport programs and development of fundraising strategies to support our growth.

The Sporting Club Grants Program is part of the Labor Government’s strategy to make sport more accessible and inclusive, support clubs and volunteers and boost participation at the grassroots level.

This comes on top of the Labor Government’s $120 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund which is upgrading tired grounds and ageing pavilions, and building female-friendly change rooms across the state.

TARRAVILLE CRICKET CLUB INCORPORATED Uniforms Long sleeve playing polo shirt & regular polo shirts for active participants that will be owned by the club for the use of multiple members. Gippsland Ranges Roller Derby Inc Equipment This grant will allow us to purchase key Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for Roller Derby: helmets, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards. We intend to design and purchase 50 short sleeve and 20 long sleeve shirts for current players, including spare shirts for future recruits and replacements. 1000
TRAFALGAR FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB INCORPORATED Equipment The club wants to purchase 25 to 30 playing jumpers for our thirds side to make it more affordable for them to participate. PHILLIP ISLAND INDOOR OUTDOOR SOCCER ASSOC INC Coach Accreditation Program Phillip Island Breakers Soccer Club considers quality accredited coaching pivital to player development and its success. We have committed to having all coaches up skilled and qualified to the minimum level required for the relevant age group or skill level. To achieve this, we need funding to support ongoing development and succession planning. 1,500.00
BAIRNSDALE AMATEUR BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION Coaching Course To allow coaches who completed the Community Coaching Course in 2017 to complete the next level of training, the Club Coaching course. This will allow our Junior teams to have skilled and qualified coaches 1,650.00
MORWELL FOOTBALL & NETBALL CLUB INC Umpire Development Program Umpires are very difficult to find and netball leagues are now required to be supplying more umpires that have the qualifications and/or are badged. If we were successful in this grant application, we would be looking to put a group of our junior netballers who are keen to get involved in umpiring through a number of umpiring courses. 1,560.00
CHURCHILL AMATEURE BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION First Aid Training 10 Churchill Amateur Basketball Association volunteers will complete First Aid training to ensure they feel confident to administer first aid to our members, friends, family and visitors 1,500.00
DROUIN DRAGONS SOCCER CULB INC First Aid Training & Coaching We aim to achieve through the first aid training at least 10 volunteers that are qualified to provide first aid at all matches and have qualified coaches training participants especially our junior teams who are the lifeblood of our sport. 2,000.00
STRZELECKI BUSHWALKING CLUB INC First Aid Training The volunteer trip leaders of our Bushwalking Club will undertake a 2 day First Aid Training Course (HLTAID005 Provide First Aid in a Remote Setting). They will reinforce existing knowledge and learn updated techniques.
