Gippsland Carers Association Receives A Disability Self-Help Group Funding Boost

Disability self-help group Gippsland Carers Association Inc will be able to continue providing vital support to people with a disability in the Morwell electorate thanks to a funding boost from the Victorian Government.
Member for Morwell, Russell Northe said $7,500 would be provided to Gippsland Carers Association for general operating expenses, to purchase equipment, carry out maintenance and operate the activities of disability self-help groups.
A disability self-help group is a self-managed group of people, who meet regularly to help each other to better understand and manage their disability.
ˇ§This is a fantastic result for Gippsland Carers Association and means people with a disability, their families and carers in our local community will be able to continue to support each other,ˇ¨ Mr Northe said.

Minister for Disability Services and Reform, Mary Wooldridge said the investment in Gippsland Carers Association was part of the latest funding package of more than $466,000 which will support 106 disability self-help groups across the state.
ˇ§The Coalition Government has consistently recognised the importance of providing support to community based disability self-help groups where people with disabilities can help each other to live independently and make informed decisions about their own lives,ˇ¨ Ms Wooldridge said.
