Beyond The Classroom ExhibitionThe Latrobe Performing Arts Centre will be hosting the inaugural ‘Beyond the Classroom’ exhibition from Monday 15 February. By Latrobe City Council - 16th March 2010 - Back to News Which highlights the talents of young artists from Latrobe City schools who have recently completed Unit 3 and 4 VCE Art and Visual Communication.
Latrobe City’s coordinator performing arts and venues, Kathleen Roberts, said that the exhibition is a celebration of these young artists’ final year of secondary education and a recognition of the work they have completed and are about to embark on.
"We recognise the talent of these upcoming artists and would like to support them as they continue to create art work beyond their secondary education.
"The exhibition program also offers the students an opportunity to participate in a workshop with local artists and curators to learn the process for displaying art work and its conservation," Ms Roberts said.
The exhibition showcases the work of students from Lowanna College and Lavalla Catholic College and is being officially opened on Tuesday 16 February 5.30pm by Julie Adams, Latrobe City’s arts director.

The exhibition runs Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm until Friday 30 April at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon from 10am to 5pm.
The ‘Beyond the Classroom’ exhibition is an initiative of Latrobe’s performing arts education and public programs. All Latrobe City schools are encouraged to express their interest in displaying student works in the 2010 Latrobe Performing Arts Centre exhibition program by contacting Latrobe’s performing arts education officer, Eloisa Tripodi on 0458 366 753 or eloisatr@latrobe.vic.gov.au.
