GippsTAFE Students Give Free Design ConsultationGippsTAFE students are offering their creative expertise to community members in a one hour free design consultation. By Emma Lewis - 7th June 2006 - Back to News The final year Interior Decoration and Design students will be giving practical advice on how to arrange household décor. The sessions will be held at the Mid Valley Shopping Centre on Tuesday June 13.
The upcoming event is intended to give students a ‘hands-on’ opportunity to put theory into practice and develop skills that will help them to find employment within the competitive design industry. The consultancy session also offers people a chance to ask their design questions for free.
"It’s a unique event," said GippsTAFE teacher Anna Panayiotou, who will be hosting the consultancy sessions. "Many people would like to give their homes a facelift, but most of us are at a loss when it comes to deciding where to start. The students are here to help. You can bring in photos, fabric swatches or floor plans and sit down with a qualified person who can give you practical help at no cost."
"The students are expecting the event to be an extremely rewarding experience," she said. "We are looking forward to sharing our skills and knowledge with the community. I would like to encourage everyone to come out on June 13 and ask about the best solution for their home."
The consultancy sessions will be taking place in front of the Target store in the centre of Mid Valley, Morwell from 9.00am. To book an appointment, please contact Anna Panayiotou in the GippsTAFE Painting and Decorating Department on 5127 0229 or email joannap@gippstafe.vic.edu.au
