Michelle Prezioso of Latrobe Regional Library employee goes to Summer Undergraduate Residency Program at the New York Academy of Art
Michelle Prezioso, an employee at Latrobe Regional Gallery, will participate in a Summer Undergraduate Residency Program at the New York Academy of Art, focusing on painting and portraiture.
Latrobe Regional Gallery employee, Michelle Prezioso will soon be jetting off to New York where she will complete a Summer Undergraduate Residency Program at the New York Academy of Art. The program involves intensive technical training in drawing, painting, and sculpting along with theory, cultural studies such as visits to major museums and galleries and professional development. The residency immerses students in the art world of New York City.

Michelle seizes the opportunity
Michelle said after looking into the opportunity, she decided to apply. Michelle was required to supply images of her artwork, along with a personal statement and a reference from Federation University to secure her spot in the Academy.
"I'm an avid painter and enjoy portraiture as my main area of focus, so the residency will be the perfect opportunity to hone these skills. I'll also get to exhibit my work at the end of the residency in the New York Academy of Art gallery space," said Michelle.
Art career advancement
Michelle is currently working as a part-time Gallery Technician at Latrobe Regional Gallery (LRG). This position involves exhibition installation, art handling, collection management and general maintenance. In addition to her role at LRG, Michelle is studying a Bachelor of Fine Art at Federation University, Churchill campus. In her last year of study, the residency will help to boost Michelle's technical, conceptual and professional development outcomes leading into her final semester.
Latrobe City Council's Chief Executive Officer, Steven Piasente wished Michelle the best of luck with her residency. "We congratulate Michelle on what is a prestigious residency program with the New York Academy of Art. This opportunity is an exciting venture for Michelle, and we look forward to Michelle being able to implement the skills and experience gained in her role at the Latrobe Regional Gallery," said Mr Piasente.
