The Bar None Campaign Comes To Latrobe CityThe Bar None touring photographic exhibition is in Morwell from 21 January until 28 January. By Latrobe City - 24th January 2011 - Back to News This exhibition, part of a broader campaign promoting the benefits of employing people with disability, features 15 Victorians with disabilities from around the State and the contribution they make to their workplaces.
Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said that people with a disability have a range of valuable skills and abilities which could be useful in any business and they represent a largely untapped talent pool.
"Employing people with disabilities will enable businesses to access this talent, especially when skill shortages arise. Research has consistently found that people with disabilities are greatly valued employees with high attendance rates, lower turnover, along with above-average performances and safety records.
"In 2010, 350 employers signed the Gippsland Employment Making a Difference (GEMAD) Charter. The GEMAD Charter is an initiative to encourage employers to adopt a number of priniciples relating to the inclusion of people with disabilities in mainstream employment and become contributing members of their workforce," Cr White concluded.
The Bar None photographic exhibition can be seen in the foyer of Latrobe City Corporate Headquarters, Commerical Road, Morwell. Everyone is welcome to view the exhibition during the time it is here.
