Fencing for Jetty Triangle
New fencing will be installed next month in the Cowes Jetty Triangle.
The fencing will be placed at the top of the existing retaining wall, adjacent to the cenotaph.
Bass Coast Shire Council’s Events Coordinator, Frank Angarane, said the work was a response to safety concerns.
"The grassed area beside the retaining wall is a popular picnic and gathering area," Mr Angarane explained.
"There is a safety issue, especially in the evening or when the Triangle area is crowded. Erecting a fence at the top of the wall will stop people falling off and injuring themselves."
Temporary fencing is always erected in the cenotaph area during events. The permanent fencing will eliminate the need for this. The new fence will match the existing fencing in other areas in the Jetty Triangle.
