Years 1 - 2 Jessica Cole Eagle Point Primary School

Years 3 - 4 Amy Healey Orbost Primary School

The competition itself was coordinated statewide by VicWater – peak body for water businesses in Victoria – to help publicise National Water Week (19 – 25 October).

National Water Week aims to raise awareness of the need to protect and conserve our most precious resource, water.

Said East Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Les Mathieson: "This year’s competition attracted nearly 500 entries from schools across East Gippsland and the standard was very high.

"It’s been encouraging to see how well informed our youngsters are about water and the importance of conserving and using it wisely, which owes a great deal to the work being put in by schools to help maintain and increase awareness."

East Gippsland Water is presenting its competition winners and their schools with their prizes during National Water Week. Each participant in the poster competition will also receive a special certificate.

The region’s winning posters will be on display at East Gippsland Water’s main office at 133 Macleod Street, Bairnsdale and can be viewed on the Corporation’s website www.egwater.vic.gov.au

They will also be included in a special desktop calendar for 2009.
