Rates Payments Due Thursday 15 FebruaryResidents who are among the more than 60 percent of ratepayers who have chosen to pay their 2006-2007 rates in full, are reminded that the full payment of rates is due on Thursday 15 February 2007. By Latrobe City - 9th February 2007 - Back to News Latrobe City’s chief executive officer, Paul Buckley, said that a timely reminder was appropriate, as rates payments could sometimes be overlooked.
"For those opting to pay their rates in full, several months have elapsed since the receipt of their rates notice. A reminder at the appropriate time helps those who have popped their rates notice away in a draw or file, to make the appropriate payment by the required date," Mr Buckley explained.
Those who have opted to pay their rates by instalments have until 28 February to make their third instalment payment. The fourth and final instalment is due on 31 May.
Mr Buckley said that Latrobe City provides many options for those making rates payments.
Payments in person can be made over the counter at the council service centres in Moe, Morwell and Traralgon during opening hours Monday-Friday 8.30am-5.15pm; or at any Australia Post Office.
Payment can also be may made through BPAY via a financial institution; by direct debit; with a credit card via the telephone 24 hours a day; by mail to council; or through an internet payment via council’s website www.latrobe.vic.gov.au. Full details on the various payment options will be found on the back of each rates notice.
"If anyone has mislaid their rates notice, they should immediately contact council on 1300 367 700. Under legislation, municipal councils are required to charge interest on the balance of outstanding rates, so it is in everyone’s best interest to lodge payment prior to those deadlines," Mr Buckley said.
Anyone experiencing difficulties making their rate payment should contact the rates office telephone 1300 367 700 and discuss arrangements.
