Bass Coast Shire Council’s CEO, Allan Bawden, said that the official opening is a great opportunity to showcase the new Hub to members of the community.

"The whole community is invited to come along to the opening, have a look around, ask questions and appreciate this state of the art building," said Mr Bawden.

"The Hub offers a great range of facilities including our Customer Service Centre, the Visitor Information Centre, Library and Inverloch Community House.

"There is a Maternal and Child Health Service, Community Hall, public meeting rooms and baby change room and toilet facilities. The YMCA and Inverloch playgroup also operate programs from the Hub."

Mr Bawden said funding for the Hub had come from a number of sources.

"Council contributed $1.4 million to this project and we received major grants from the State Government," said Mr Bawden.

"A Living Library Grant contributed $500,000; there was $158,000 from the Community Support Fund, $200,000 from Small Towns Development Fund and a Modernising Neighbourhood Houses Grant of $138,000.

"We are looking forward to welcoming Minister D’Ambrosio and showing her what a wonderful community facility this is," continued Mr Bawden.

The official opening will run from 11.00am to 1.00pm and will include an indigenous flag raising ceremony and the launch of the Inverloch Community Plan.

The official opening will also include an acknowledgment of the various companies that contributed to the building and furnishings of the Hub.

"We certainly want to thank Ducon, GHD architects, Melbourne Office Furniture, Melbourne Office Solutions and Dollar Curtains and Blinds, who have helped us create a state of the art facility," said Mr Bawden.

"A number of Council staff also worked extremely hard on the project over a number of years. In the initial stages, former Community and Economic Development Director, Richard Perry drove the project.

"I would also like to commend Building Project Coordinator, Trevor Dando; our former Community Services Manager, Liz Wright; Capital Projects Coordinator, Ravi Raveendran; and Acting Infrastructure Maintenance Manager, Jamie Sutherland for the excellent work they have done.

"Staff from our Depot, Visitor Information Centres, YMCA, Library, Community House and all the Volunteers should also be acknowledged for their commitment and hard work to the project," said Mr Bawden.

The formal proceedings are expected to conclude at around 1.00pm and the community are invited to stay for a tour of the facilities and lunch.
