Unveiling plans for Rosedale multipurpose community centre

On Tuesday 14 December, Wellington Shire Council’s newly elected Mayor Peter Gault will be joined by State MP for Morwell District Brendan Jenkins, to officially unveil plans for the new $2.4 million Rosedale multipurpose community centre.

Mr Jenkins will be attending on behalf of the Minister for Victorian Communities - with this important event being held at Rosedale Neighbourhood House, on the corner of Cansick and Hood Streets, from 2pm to 3pm. All residents of Rosedale and the surrounding district are invited to attend. There is no need to pre-book, simply turn up on the day.

This will be an ideal opportunity to find out the latest on the project, with construction work set to start autumn 2005.

The council has been actively supporting and seeking funds for this much-needed facility. Along with $765,000 provided by the council itself and some $20,000 raised by the local community, the Federal Government has provided a total of $750,000 through its Regional Solutions and Regional Partnerships Programs. In addition, the Victorian Government has contributed $250,000 through the Department of Human Services Children’s Services and $200,000 from the Small Towns Program.

The new Rosedale multipurpose community centre will boast provision for occasional care and pre-school, a library, neighbourhood house and community health services, as well as facilities for local senior citizens and other community groups.

It means that for the first time the people of Rosedale will be able to benefit from all these services under one roof – providing much more convenient access to a broader range of community support.

Said Mayor Gault: "We are fully committed to Rosedale. This much-needed and eagerly-awaited facility will provide an indispensable range of services to the local community and we would encourage everyone with an interest in the project to take this opportunity to view the plans and find out the latest on the project."
