Seamless transition for Council’s Traralgon service centreCouncil’s Traralgon service centre will remain open to the public throughout the transition of the building to the new collocated library and service centre. By Latrobe Shire Council - 7th February 2005 - Back to News Latrobe City’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Buckley, said it would be ‘business as usual’ at Traralgon during the relocation of administrative staff to the new corporate headquarters. "We are also determined to ensure there is as little inconvenience as possible to our community while the Traralgon building is refurbished as the new Traralgon library and service centre," Mr Buckley said.
A number of Latrobe City’s administrative functions will be conducted from the new corporate headquarters at 141 Commercial Road Morwell from Monday 28 February 2005.
Mr Buckley stressed however that it was important to note that services such as payments and enquiries on aged and disability services, rates, child and family services, pet registrations, and lodgement of planning applications and building permits etc, will continue to be provided over the counter from the Traralgon, Morwell and Moe service centres.
"Most citizens who normally conduct business over the counter at the Traralgon or Moe service centres, will continue to do so. There will be no need for them to travel to Morwell to conduct that business," Mr Buckley said.
"As such, the transfer of administrative staff to the new corporate headquarters will have negligible impact on the day-to-day business the community conducts with Council."
Latrobe City Mayor, Cr Bruce Lougheed, said that for the first time since the amalgamation of a number of former municipalities in 1994, Council’s administrative staff will be located in the one location, leading to greater efficiencies in the delivery of services to the community.
"Following the transfer of administrative staff from the existing Traralgon and Morwell offices, a refurbished and much larger Traralgon Library will be collocated with the Traralgon Service Centre in the civic precinct," Cr Lougheed explained.
"The Function Room and Council Chamber in the Traralgon precinct will continue in their present roles, as places where Latrobe’s community and municipal interests merge.
"Latrobe City’s temporary Morwell administrative office located at Wing 6, and leased since the sale of Latrobe House for the Justice Precinct development, will close the following week," Cr Lougheed added.
