Feedback wanted to help improve parking in Drouin, Yarragon and Trafalgar by 11 November 2022To improve parking in Drouin, Yarragon and Trafalgar parking, council engaged consultants HDS Australia to undertake parking research. By news@gippsland - 13th October 2022 - Back to News Council has completed a thorough assessment of the parking conditions within Drouin, Yarragon, and Trafalgar to help us understand where parking pressures lie and how we can plan to address them in the future. The draft reports, including findings and recommendations, are now available for community review and feedback. 
Complete a short survey and send your feedback to better assess and improve parking in Drouin, Yarragon and Trafalgar Community engaged projectTo compile the data on Drouin, Yarragon and Trafalgar parking, council engaged consultants HDS Australia to undertake parking research within each town throughout late April and May. In addition to the raw data collection, council asked community members to share their parking experiences during phase one of the project consultation. Engagement included an online survey as well as in-person community pop-up sessions in Yarragon, Drouin and Trafalgar town centres.
Together, the information gathered has informed a report presented to council that includes findings, potential improvements and recommended actions to alleviate the parking pressures identified. Draft reports and recommendationView the draft reports and recommendations: To ensure these recommendations are in line with community expectations and experience, the public is invited to review and provide feedback on the parking study reports and draft recommendations by completing a short survey on council's website. Feedback will be sought on the parking study reports and draft recommendations until 5pm Friday, 11 November 2022. Study on the parking provisionsMayor Cr Michael Leaney said, "As more and more residents join our community, it is well understood by council that something needs to be done to address the parking pressures faced in these three towns. That's why, with help from consultants and the community, we've undertaken comprehensive research to better understand the situation. I encourage our community to review these reports and detailed recommendations that seek to develop practical and financially viable parking solutions for these town centres." Deputy Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said, "There has been extensive study on the parking provisions for Drouin, Trafalgar and Yarragon, focussing on the CBD's. In my opinion, I see Drouin will benefit from more long-term parking spaces to accommodate shop owners and employees in the town centre, leaving more availability of the short-term parking spaces. I am very interested in hearing the points and views from our community on these reports and look forward to reading the feedback." West Ward Councillor Tricia Jones said, "These studies are another way forward to explore the parking conditions in the towns of Drouin, Yarragon and Trafalgar. Parking restrictions, regulations and enforcement are regarded as a solution to encourage turnover and greater access for parking spaces within the town centres.
