Some 80% of the steel framing for the Recreation Reserve pavilion (below) - part of the Buchan Recreation Reserve Master Plan - has been delivered to site and the builders are busily putting it together.

The pavilion features a large steel frame and is on schedule, with footings and drainage completed

Pavilion takes shape

As the pavilion's design includes a large steel frame, there may not appear to be significant visible progress on site until the steel is erected. The concrete footings are complete, as well as some stormwater drains and pits under the subfloor.

The project forms part of council's support to upgrade and revitalise the reserve with better sporting and community facilities and create the conditions that allow communities such as Buchan to thrive - and it's all on schedule.

Poles positioned

Light poles and lights have been installed and tested at the netball and tennis courts. Asphalt work is complete, with acrylic coating and line marking to follow once cured, however, the weather (temperature/ rain) may affect the timing of the coating.

Netball rings and tennis posts will be installed after coating. A basketball ring is in place. The electrician has completed cabling and a switchboard upgrade for the pony club. Coating is expected to be finished early April.

Design work commences

Council is developing a concept design for a dump point at Buchan Recreation Reserve to support growing RV and camper tourism. Working with the catchment authority, the project considers floodplain constraints. The design is expected by June, with community feedback to follow.

Buchan Recreation Reserve CoM has asked for three trees to be removed (pictured above) as they are too close to buildings and court infrastructure. We know how much trees mean to Buchan and welcome your feedback on this decision before Thursday 17 April on (03) 5153 9500 or at feedback@egipps.vic.gov.au.
