Sarsfield Water Main Upgrade WorksReplacing and upgrading 4 kilometers of main water supply pipeline. By Portal Admin - 2nd May 2019 - Back to News Engineering works commence in April to replace and upgrade some four kilometres of main water supply pipeline in the Sarsfield area.
East Gippsland Water has commissioned local contractor Rivex for the $2 million project - designed to help address the long term water supply needs of growing communities between Sarsfield and Lakes Entrance; including Nicholson, Johnsonville, Swan Reach and Metung.
Every effort will be made to minimise any inconvenience to affected residents. Those likely to be affected have been notified of the works, which are expected to take approximately eight months in total to complete. Traffic management measures will be necessary.
East Gippsland Water is also progressing well with construction of a new six-million-litre drinking water storage tank within a disused water storage basin at Sarsfield. This is being built alongside an existing water storage tank of a similar size - doubling the storage capacity on the site - and is due to be completed by the end of the year.
East Gippsland Water's Managing Director, Steve McKenzie, said, "These initiatives are part of an ongoing drive to ensure all our communities have secure supplies of high quality drinking water well into the future, taking into account forecasts for population growth and the potential impact of climate change on our region. We would like to thank those directly impacted by the works for their patience and cooperation."
