One Woman Show Proves Fairy Tales Can Be MagicThought you knew Grimm’s fairy tales? Think again. Showing at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 24 July from 8pm, The Magic Hour is a wicked retelling of classic bedtime stories. By Latrobe City - 18th July 2014 - Back to News Latrobe City Council’s acting coordinator performing arts and venues, Eloisa Tripodi, said that Helpmann Award-winner Ursula Yovich plays a cast of sideline female characters who’ve been updated and dropped into the gutters and alleyways of bleak Australian life.
"From one of Australia’s most original contemporary playwrights, Vanessa Bates, The Magic Hour is a gutsy one-woman comedy told with dark humour and soulful song.
"The audience will be drawn into a night of stories told at twilight with werewolves and a touch of magic. The show crosses a line turning fairy tales into dark yarns that are definitely not suitable for children. Yovich has performed to rave reviews and brings all her experience to the stage to deliver an enchanting and thrilling performance," Ms Tripodi said.
The Magic Hour will be performed at the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre on Thursday 24 July from 8pm, LPA Bar opens at 7pm. Call the box office on 5176 3333 to book your tickets.
