Local linen service up for award

Gippsland Water would like to congratulate the Warragul Linen Service for being named as a finalist in the 2005 savewater! awards® - Victoria’s leading water sustainability awards.

The local linen company has been recognised in the Service Providers category for its innovative move to modify its continuous batch washing machine systems, resulting in an overall water consumption reduction of 35%.

The savewater! awards® are in its fourth year, and recognise outstanding achievement and innovation in water conservation practices from businesses, government and individuals across Victoria.

The winner of each category is to be announced on 21 October.

Gippsland Water’s Chief Executive Officer, John Mitchell said, "Gippsland Water takes every opportunity to support local businesses, domestic customers and schools in our region to conserve water.

"The Warragul Linen Service should be commended for its water conservation efforts, and we would like to wish them all the best for the awards. I am told that the annual amount of water the linen service will save is equivalent to 30 Olympic size swimming pools!

"The awards tie-in with Gippsland Water’s ongoing commitment to encouraging water saving through initiatives including the savewater!™ efficiency service for local businesses, the Sustainable Water Use Plans Program for Regional Local Government and the Permanent Water Saving Plan that we currently have open for public comment."
