Wild Dog Local Area Control Plans

The Gippsland Wild Dog Management Group is inviting the community to continue its participation in the development of Wild Dog Local Area Control Plans.

By Department of Primary Industries - 29th August 2006 - Back to News

Alan Brown, Chair of the Group said there has been very strong and positive feed back from community members after the last round of Local Area Control Plan (LACP) meetings.

"These meetings give the community an opportunity to impart their local knowledge of wild dog activity and this information will provide the basis for works plans for their LACP area.

"The LACP meetings will be held during September and October, from the Dandenongs in the West, to Bonang in the East," Mr Brown said.

LACPs will reflect both the Government’s aim as described in the Victorian Pest Management Framework "to limit the damage caused by wild dogs to livestock enterprises through strategic and sustained management" and the direction provided in the Gippsland Wild Dog Action Plan.

Community meetings will be held at the following locations:

Dargo Hall - 5 September 2006

Omeo Hall - 7 September 2006

Bonang Hall - 13 September 2006

Gelantipy Hall - 14 September 2006

Woori Yallock DPI/PV Office - 26 September 2006

Maffra DPI Office - 28 September 2006

Orbost DSE Office - 3 October 2006

All meetings commence at 7:30pm.

For further information on the LACP meetings or the Gippsland Wild Dog Program contact Vaughn Kingston, DPI Community Engagement Officer at Bairnsdale on (03) 5152 0600.
