More fires in Gippsland after lightning strikes

A number of small fires have started in Gippsland overnight after lightning strikes passed across the region.

The Department of Sustainability and Environment has reported fires near Bairnsdale at Pheasant Creek, north of Ensay at Cock's Break, north of Combienbar at Cataract Track and south east of Rawson on Micah's Track.

A total of 20 personnel, five tankers and one dozer have been deployed to work on these fires. Crews worked overnight on the Pheasant Creek fire and two reconnaissance aircraft are patrolling the region for any other fires.

DSE Incident Controllers are confident of getting all these fires contained today.
