Andrew Horner of the Department of Sustainability and Environment will chair the group, which will also have representation from Gippsland Ports, the Koori community and the Shire.

Shire Councillor Michael Freshwater said, "The Steering Committee will now oversee expressions of interest from suitably qualified consultants to undertake a Coastal Processes Study.

"The Study aims to determine the possibility and subsequent impact of developing an upgraded ocean access boat ramp at the possible sites at Bastion Point.

"The Steering Committee has confirmed its intention to meet in Mallacoota during August and will ensure that the Mallacoota community is kept fully informed of the EES process and its program.

"The Steering Committee will issue a monthly newsletter, which will be available from the Mallacoota Outreach Centre," Cr Freshwater said.
