Gippsland's Christian Community Radio Station - Life FM is celebrating 2 years on air on Saturday 29th October.
Station Manager Debbie Bye (formerly of ABC Gippsland) says "we can't believe it's two years already, so much has happened."
Debbie says there are lots of giveaways and a few surprises planned for Life FM's 2nd birthday "but you'll have to tune in to find out".
Life FM received a permanent licence in August 2004 after commencing broadcast in October 2003 and is heard right across Gippsland. Debbie says, "The response to the local programming by Life FM has been overwhelming. We have had many calls from people saying how good it is to have a positive, uplifting and encouraging alternative radio station that has a genuine concern for the local community.
Life FM broadcasts quality, professional radio 24 hours a day X 7 days a week and supports the Gippsland community by promoting local events and services through community announcements and local interviews. With 23 years experience in the radio industry, Debbie heads up a team of volunteers from across the Gippsland region helping them to develop new skills in radio broadcasting and administration. Over the last five years more than eighty volunteers have contributed to keeping to the station running and achieving a permanent licence. The Station also supports the Work for the Dole Program and is currently training three people under this scheme.
The station's transmitter is located on Mt Tassie near Tarra Valley, and the studio and office is currently located in Sale.
Debbie says the fifth Annual General Meeting will be held on 10th November at the Latrobe City Sports Club, 107-111 Crinigan Road Morwell from 7pm and there are vacancies on the Committee of Management. Everyone is welcome to attend. More details are available on the stations website lifefm.com.au
