Council provides more parking.

Baw Baw Shire Council has finished construction of the Mason Street car park providing up to an additional 100 all day parking spots close to the Warragul CBD.

According to council chief executive officer, Glenn Patterson, council has responded to community needs by significantly increasing the amount of car parking available near the CBD.

"These additional parking places are only 200 metres east of the post office, close enough to park and walk to any shops in the CBD," said Mr Patterson.

"There will still be shoppers who want to park in front of the business they wish to visit, but that is not always possible and council can’t help that.

"What we can do is provide additional parking close to the CBD and this has been done," said Mr Patterson.

Last month council completed construction of the Barkly Street car park, which provides time restricted parking for 52 vehicles.

"We expect that the Mason Street and Barkly Street car parks will accommodate our present parking needs as well as the future parking needs of visitors to the CBD.

"Council has invested just over $500,000 to purchase the site in 2005 and construct the car park," said Mr Patterson.

The car park is an unsealed crushed rock all weather car park with no line markings.

Council intends to fully construct this car park in the future.
