News BulletinBass Coast Local News By Bass Coast Shire Council - 15th December 2006 - Back to News Bass Coast Student Placements
Bass Coast Shire Council is very active in providing students with practical work placements. There were 17 university, TAFE and secondary students who all gained valuable work experience with Bass Coast over the past year.
Council staff take great pride in assisting students with practical experience in their areas of interest and study
Some of our local young people studying at university in Melbourne have really seized upon these opportunities. As part of their summer break at home with family they have secured valuable work placements with Council. This arms them with priceless experience upon which to base the following year’s studies.
Council realises the advantages that work placements give students if they have that experience under their belt when they graduate.
If you are a student, or if your son or daughter is currently studying, please feel free to contact Council’s Human Resources team on 5671 2211 or 5951 3311 to talk about work placement opportunities that provide solid foundations to a successful career.
Christmas Giving Tree
A reminder to all that Council has Christmas Giving Trees in the Customer Service Centres in Wonthaggi and Cowes. Presents put under the tree will go to the Combine Churches and Welfare Groups, for distribution across the Shire.
This is a great way to help out those less fortunate in our community. There has been a particular request for presents or gift vouchers for teenagers.
Presents can simply be left under the Giving Trees in the Customer Service Centre. There is no need to wrap the gifts, but if they are wrapped, please clearly mark who the gift would be appropriate for.
Gifts of food for hampers can also be left, but these need to be non-perishables. Your generosity will help give someone a special Christmas this year.
